how does talking therapy help?

You’ll talk to a trained professional who’ll help you find your own answers, your own way forward without judging you. Family and friends are great to talk to some of the time, yet there are some issues you might not feel comfortable sharing with people who are part of your every day life.

5 ways talking therapy helps:

  • Talking helps you make sense of your past so you have a framework to understand yourself and move forward.
  • Talking helps you identify repeating patterns and once they’re clear you can think about change.
  • Talking can help you normalise your problems, so you realise that other people share your issues and they can be fixed.
  • Talking helps you change your life – it offers you a way to take insights about yourself and apply them to make real changes for a better future.
  • Talking offers hope.

what's the process?

When you contact us we’ll

  • either offer you a confidential phone call with a therapist to find out a little more about what’s troubling you and what you want to get out of therapy. We then match you with a Re…root therapist whose approach and experience/specialism fits your therapy goals and availability. We’ll agree an appointment time with you.
  • or if you’ve already given us enough background we’ll offer you an appointment with a Re…root therapist straightaway.

when does the therapy end?

At the end of the first session you decide if it feels right to continue. If yes

  • you decide with your therapist how long therapy might last
  • you and your therapist agree what can be addressed in the time available (if there is a specific focus the therapy is likely to be shorter, if the issues are deeper and perhaps influenced by the past we’re likely to offer you more sessions)
  • you’ll generally be offered a review part way through the work.

When you want to end therapy it’s most helpful to plan this with your therapist. Yet you are always in charge - all we ask is that you have two ending sessions with your therapist to recap what you can usefully take from the work together.

You can pay monthly in advance or at the beginning of each session by card, cheque or cash.

If you want to use private health insurance please let us know early on so that we can make sure your therapist meets the conditions for your health insurance provider. You’ll need to meet any costs that your health insurance provider does not cover, e.g. any policy excess and charges for missed sessions.

sessions

A therapy session is 50 minutes and usually takes place at the same day and time each week.

If you miss a session you’ll still need to pay the full fee. (Your regular weekly session is always reserved for you, which means we can’t book anyone else into this time.) Where possible we’ll offer you an alternative time with your therapist in the same week.

confidentiality

What you discuss with your therapist is confidential within the limits of current regulation. Your therapist will answer any questions you have about this.
