I aim to create a consistent and safe environment where children and adolescents can feel at ease to explore their thoughts, feelings and any aspects of life they might be struggling to cope with. With each child or teenager I strive to enable a thoughtful and supportive therapeutic relationship in which the young person can be heard and their concerns acknowledged. I help them develop a better understanding of their problems, and then explore new and healthier ways of dealing with them.

Sonia Al-Roubaei
Child, Adolescent & Young Person Therapist
Sonia is a highly trained and experienced therapist specialising in work with children and teenagers.
She’s is keen to use her knowhow to help young minds build a better understanding of the world around them, reduce worry, increase confidence and improve their relationships both at school and at home. These days life can seem overwhelming, and Sonia helps each child or teenager manage the particular issue they face and work through the developmental challenges that might be troubling them, such as the common issues of adapting to life at a new school, the pressures of social media, worries about mum and dad staying together, feeling angry or isolated and much more.
Sonia has a very warm presence that children and young people of all ages respond to. She liaises with the parent(s) or primary caregiver of each young client at appropriate points in therapy, such a session might be with or separate from the child or teenager. Sonia has excellent experience drawn from working with Place2Be, at Montessori schools and in private practice.
As well as being fluent in English, Sonia can also offer therapy in Portuguese.
